I really enjoy discovering websites that come up with novel and, more importantly, useful and applicable services in the real world. Wakerupper is one of those sites. It's based on a super simple idea - allow people to pre-arrange a phone call online. By typing in a time to be called, your phone number and a brief message, you can ensure you receive a call at exactly the time you need it.

That may not sound that useful offhand, but think about how you might use this service. If you know you're going on a blind date at eight o'clock you might want to schedule an "unavoidable, important business" call for 8:30 that you can blow off if things are going well, or use as an exit if not. Gone are the days of relying on friends who forget to call and leave you high and dry with the date from hell.

Ok, you might find it more useful to set travel reminders, wake up calls and so on. Wakerupper acknowledges that you might not want to immediately trust a new service with a critical wake up call so you can schedule a free test, and use the service ten times for free. After which you pay 5c per minute on a pre-paid basis for any calls and messages you request.

The only thing I would change with the service is to add the ability to choose your time zone. Currently you have to work it out from EST.
